The Peneda-Gerês National Park is one of the municipality's main brand images and one of its main environmental and tourist resources. The River Vez lies to the west of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, entirely in the municipality, and is considered one of the cleanest rivers in Europe.
From its source, high up in the Soajo mountains, until it flows into the River Lima, it is a 38 km wild course through countless beautiful and breathtaking natural waterfalls. In addition to its splendid natural heritage, the River Vez has a rich built heritage: weirs, fishing grounds, mills, irrigation systems, among others, are living testimonies to the perseverance of the local populations, who over centuries of history have tamed and molded nature to their needs. It is also a classified area, characterized by its own biodiversity, where its ichthyofauna and riparian galleries stand out.
